Healthy Eyes

Healthy eyes are very important and as such you must have a well balanced diet. Eating the right kind of foods can lower your risks of certain eye diseases. Antioxidants are made up of certain vitamins including vitamin C, vitamin A, and vitamin E. Fruits and vegetables supply many of these vitamins. Eating them raw is the best way to get these essential vitamins and antioxidants.

Vitamin A is found in milk and vegetables like carrots and spinach. Vitamin C is very important for our bodily functions. Vitamin C supports our bones and muscles and supports our immune system. You can find vitamin C in citrus fruits and green peppers. Vitamin E helps to reduce the risk of heart disease and Alzheimer's in aging adults. Green leafy vegetables and almonds prove to be a good source for vitamin E.

Along with getting your vitamins your body also needs minerals. Oysters and certain breakfast cereals are fortified with minerals. A healthy diet consists of these vitamins and minerals that help to keep your eyes healthy.

Normal aging can cause the development of cataracts on the eyes. The lens of the eye become cloudy and the only way to cure this condition is by surgery. Other things which affect the eyes is heart disease and diabetes. As you can see, it is very important to take healthy steps to preventing disease and keeping your eyes healthy.

One of the most effective ways to keep on top of your eye health is getting regular eye exams. And giving up smoking and good nutrition are positive steps you can take for better eye health.
