Lasik Negatives

Make no mistake about it, Lasik eye surgery has many benefits. It has helped countless people repair their vision for good. However, it is a surgery. With surgery comes risks, complications, and negative side effects. This is not meant to scare you if you are considering it, because as stated before, it is quite safe. You do, however, need to be aware of the risks before making an informed decision about what you will choose.

One risk is that you may be over or under corrected. This means that your vision may not be as sharp or clear because the doctor did not correct enough or corrected too much. You may, in the future, need enhancements. Also, you still may need to wear glasses or contacts. This sometimes happens with people whose vision was so bad that they were under corrected, but could not, for whatever reason, have the enhancement done. Another risk is that the correction may not be permanent. You may experience dry eyes. You may even suffer from vision loss.

As with any surgery, there is also the possibility of post operative infection. Of course, these infections can be treated with medications, but you may experience temporary and even sometimes permanent vision loss. An infection would also lengthen your healing time. Another complication to Lasik eye surgery can be night vision problems.

All these risks mentioned were not meant to discourage you from getting the procedure. They were listed in order for you to do more research into the subject and to help you make an educated decision.
