The rings will flatten the central cornea as a way of correcting a person's sight that is nearsighted. With this procedure the rings can be removed from the eye.

Another procedure that one can choose to have other than the Lasik eye surgery is to have a Keratectomy, which means that the patient will have a longer healing time but this procedure does not have the same risk as the Lasik surgery carries. This procedure means that the patient will have to have more patience and therapy after the procedure is completed. This procedure is better for people that have thinner corneas or have dryer eyes.
