20/20 Vision

How well do you see? Some people have very good eyesight while others do not. How can you tell what kind of eyesight you have? There are charts that are called snelling eye charts. This is a chart that measures how well your vision is. These charts are made with black letters and a white back ground. Normal eyesight is 20/20 for most people. Some people have above average, which is 20/10. Then there is 20/40; that is a little below the average eyesight. The visual acuity is measured by the size of the letters on the chart. You must be able to read the chart from 20 feet away.

Birds such as hawks can have such vision to exceed a human’s vision. Hawks have a vision of about 20/2. They have a smaller eye, but can see much more from it than we can. You, as a human, are considered normal when you are able to see with 20/20 vision. This means that being comparable to others, you see as well as most. Anyone with a 20/10 vision is able to see what some one with 20/20 vision can see at ten feet rather than twenty feet away from the snelling eye chart.

When you go to get a drivers license you must have at least 20/40 in both eyes and 20/30 in one eye. If you do not have at least that, you will not be able to drive. Going in for annual eye exams is the main way to find out if you need glasses, lenses, surgeries or treatments to correct any vision problems.
