Non-Surgical Vision Correction

When a person sees clearly for the first time, it is an awe-inspiring moment. For those who have always been able to see clearly, close up and far away, it is just an expected privilege. So it is difficult for those people to understand the excitement that the miracle of clear sight is to someone who has never experienced it before. Previously when a person had poor eyesight, they had to wear glasses all the time or contact lenses. Now there are new technologies that make it possible for most people to have perfect sight.

For those who are leery of actual surgery, or even laser surgery, they can now receive non-surgical treatments. One such treatment is a special gas-permeable contact lens which is worn at night to reshape the cornea while the person sleeps. After wearing the lenses, most people are able to have excellent vision for 24 hours at a time without the need for glasses or contact lenses. This procedure is very successful for correcting nearsightedness and astigmatism, and it is safe for both children and adults. However, the treatment does not work for everyone. The first step in making a decision to go with this non-surgical method of eye correction is a thorough exam done by a diagnostic machine to determine if the person is a good candidate. The cost is considerably less and is done without any of the drugs or postoperative pain that is involved with laser surgery.
