We have all heard about having 20/20 vision and how it is considered to be the best vision to have. We want this vision ratio because it means that we are seeing at our optimum. The literal meaning of 20/20 vision is that you can see objects clearly and without distortion at twenty feet away.
At the eye doctor's office, there is a chart that they have you read from. There are several lines where the letters start off large, and gradually get smaller as the chart progresses. The last line is the smallest lettering and from a distance of twenty feet, you should be able to read it clearly. If you have 20/15 vision, you can see at twenty feet what someone else would have to move up to fifteen feet to see, which is even better. You want to be able to see things clearly, even small wording, from at least a distance of twenty feet. 20/20 vision is great for tasks such as driving, reading at distances, and other tasks that may require you to see small print from several feet away. If you have something different than 20/20 vision, the doctor may order contacts lenses or glasses to help you get the best vision possible.
Our eyesight is precious. We want to take care of it and get regular check-ups so that if there are any changes to our eyesight, the doctor can stay on top of it and make any necessary adjustments such as glasses or contacts. This will help keep our vision as close to 20/20 as possible.
